Workshop Training on Data Collection and Creation of the African Energy Efficiency Indicators Database

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire 03 October 2017: The African Energy Commission (AFREC) in collaboration with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Ministry of Oil Energy and Renewable Energy Development of Cote d'Ivoire organized training workshop on "Data Collection and Creation of the African Energy Efficiency Indicators Database ".

Mr. Abdoulaye OUEDDO, Consultant on Energy Information System and Database the representative of Mr. Atef Marzouk, the Interim Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC) thanks the government of Republic of Cote d'Ivoire for hosting this workshop and reiterated the importance of the training workshop to the focal points to know how to collect the African Energy Efficiency Indicators Data and Creation of Database.

Mr. Abdoulaye OUEDDO, highlighted some issues concerning the energy Balance and renewable energy resources in the continent and the importance to exploit the huge renewable energy potential in the continent to increase the percentage of the energy access in the continent.

Ms. EL ASHMAWY Laila, the representation of the International Energy Agency (IEA) thanked AFREC for its invaluable work and expressed the continued support of the IEA to these training workshops.

Ms. EL ASHMAWY, stressed on the importance of harmonization and cooperation both at national and international level and highlighted the essential role of the energy statistics to develop sound energy policies.
Mr. CISSE Sabati Director General of Energy the representative of H.E.Mr Adama Toungara Ministry of Oil, Energy and Renewable Energy Development of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire highlighted the importance of the energy statistics for development of African energy resources and appreciated the collaboration with AFREC in the implementation of the AFREC energy programme.

Mr. CISSE Sabati, also highlighted the importance of the energy statistics for attracting the private sector to invest at the African energy sector and announced at the end of the opening session that the workshop is officially opened.
